Tagging Items

ATTACHING TAGS

** DO NOT RUN YOUR TAGGING GUNS DIRECTLY INTO CLOTHING, THIS WILL CREATE A HOLE.  USE SAFETY PINS IF NEEDED.  SAFETY PINS WILL NOT CREATE A HOLE IF PINNED DIRECTLY INTO CLOTHING **.

  • Tagging guns or Safety Pins are acceptable. Use the seams or the inside size tag of the clothing to prevent damage to the clothes.  Items that have been damage by barb or that have barbs attached directly into clothing, will not be accepted.
  • If using safety pins on tags, please attach tag to the right hand side of the clothing (if it's facing you)
  • Use Ziploc bags for small items, XL ones for beddings.  You can also tie the bedding together.  Make sure tags are visible and do not tape the bottom part of the price tag.  We need access to the barcodes for inventory.  Avoid using boxes, the items will get lost during sale.
  • DO NOT USE SCOTCH TAPE, this will  not stay on!  Only use Packing Tape to attach or seal bags.  Painters tape should be used for attaching tags to books, this will prevent the page to tear upon removal of the tag.

To tag your items you will need the following supplies:

  • Child/Adult sized wire/plastic hangers for clothing
  •  Cardstock 60-67lb. for making tags.  You may use any color.  Do not use regular copy paper, it is not stong enough and will rip and separate from the barb wire/pin during the sale.  Remember, we cannot sell an item with missing tags.  This can be found at Walmart, Sams or Costco (approx $8 for a pack of 250).  Approximately, 10 tags will print on one page.
  • Scissors, Tagging gun or Safety pins, for safety , NO STRAIGHT PINS PLEASE!
  • Zip-top bags, ribbons or strings to pack shoes, attached accessories and group small toys and other items together
  • Packing tape for attaching tags to toys, furniture.
  • Painter's Tape for attaching tags to books

Item Specific Instructions

 Clothing

The better they look, the better they sell

All clothing must be clean, free of stains, rips and in excellent condition.

  • Children sized hangers are preferred for smaller sizes clothing, larger hangers are appropriate for bigger sizes.  Plastic hangers can be purchased at discount stores,  Wal-mart, dollar stores, etc.  Also, check with your local dry cleaners, most often they give wire hanger for free or discounted! Old Navy at times will give-away hangers!
  • Clothing should be priced at a value of at least $1.00  Please group items together if necessary.  For example, if you want to sell onesies and you wish to sell them for $.50 each, group four together and price the package at $1.00.  Items (pants, shirts, etc.) may be pinned together on a hanger, or items such as onesies may be grouped together in Ziploc bags.
  • All pants must be pinned to a hanger, NOT folded over, as they tend to end up on the floor.  Please do not jam a hanger in a pair of pants, it could ruin the pants and they will not look appealing (remember you want them to sell).  Larger safety pins work best for pinning pants on hangers as they go over the plastic hanger best.
  • For Pairs/Sets of clothing, the best way to display it is to put them on separate hangers and rubber band the hangers together.  Make sure your tags shows "2pc" under description.
  • For items that have matching accessories (hats, booties, etc.), place items inside a Ziploc bag and pin the bag to the item/tie to the hanger.

$1.00 Clothing Rule

Do not price clothing items under $1.00.  If your single, hanging, clothing item cannot bring $1.00 on it's own, pair it with something similar and THE SAME SIZE that will bring it to this amount.

 Sporting Gear

Sporting gear sells well, please price it appropriately.  If there are balls that go with an item, put them in Ziploc bags and tape them together with clear packing tape.  As with all shoes, cleats and sporting shoes must be in good condition and clean. Spring/Summer Sale Only: Life vests/wet suits and swimming gear is very desirable.  Please make sure that life jackets are in good working order do not have any tears. Fall/Winter Sale Only: Sleds, skis, ice skates and other snow toys are accepted.

Shoes

  • Secure shoes together with ribbon, zip-ties or in a plastic zip-top bag.
  • Print tag and secure to shoes with a safety pin, or with tape if they are in a bag. Tags must be taped with packing tape to the OUTSIDE of the bag across the top third of the tag.  Please be sure that you do not cover the bar codes. It would be wise to stick a painter's tape with your consignor# and price at the bottom of each shoe in the event the tag is lost.  This way, we can still sell the item.

Bedding

Beddings should be tied together.  You may also use large Ziploc Bags.  In packaging the entire set, make sure to use ribbons/ties/packaging tape to attach several pieces together.  Do not use a box, pieces tend to separate during sale.

Blankets

Baby blankets may be tied together if necessary or sold separately.  You may also use Large Ziploc bags.

Toys, Furniture, Equipment

  • All items must be clean and in good working order.
  • All bassinets/pack n' plays, play yards need to be assembled.  Please make sure all functions are working properly to ensure safety of our kids.  Manuals will be helpful if available.
  • If your item requires batteries, they must be included so that the buyers will know that it works.  Toys that makes sound/do something will tend to sell if buyers know it works.  In the event that you forgot to include fresh batteries, they will be supplied if a buyer insist on one being put in.  You you will be charged extra for the batteries provided depending on size and quantity used.
  • All small parts must be bagged and attached to the main part very securely. Use packing tape to attach the bag and tape the bag shut to prevent the bag from opening and losing pieces at sale time.  Attach price tag to the main part of the toy, not to the attached small bag – careful not to cover the barcode.
  • Games should be taped closed so that little hands can not get to them during the sale.
  • When tagging large toys,  attach a piece of masking tape with your consignor number and price to the toy.  This will enable us to sell your items if the tag comes off.
  • Puzzles should be wrapped securely in painters tape, clear plastic wrap, or put inside an XL bag to keep the pieces intact.
  • We do not accept stuffed animals unless they are battery operated or do something, like singing/dancing Barney/Elmo
  • Remember:  Pretend to be a shopper with small children in tow, keep in mind how you would package your items to make sure they stay intact and complete.

Car Seats

If you are selling a car seat, it must have been manufactured within the past five years, Britax is six years.  The Manufactured Date can be found at the back or bottom part of the car seat.  It must not be subject to recall or have been in an accident.  Car seats with lift up bars will not be accepted.  This will be in enforced at check-in.  Any carseats found to be older than 5 years from the manufactured date will be pulled off the sales floor.

Booster Seats are okay if over 5 years as the regular car seatbelts are used as a restraints.

Bumbo Seats had a Recall.

If you own a bumbo seat, the manufacturer offered a voluntary Recall of the item.  There's a site to order the harness belt to be attached to the seat, this is free of charge.  Follow the link to get up to 2 Free Harnesses!

Half Price/Donate

When tagging your items, you will determine if you want your item to go HALF PRICE on Saturday.  It is not mandatory to mark your item to go 50% off.  If you want your items DONATED at the end of the sale, please put a check mark on the DONATE portion when entering your items.  Keep in Mind that if your item is marked for Donation, it will automatically go HALF OFF on Saturday.  You will need to manually remove the check-mark on the tag if you don't want that.
